To say that June and July 2023 were busy months at HQ is an understatement! PWS made its largest delivery to date with a whopping 220 parcels containing 3,170 items winging their way to children across the Southend and Rochford/Rayleigh areas.
Orders had increased by almost 40% from the same period in 2022, a reflection of the cost of living crisis and huge degree of need in the area.
One of the lovely things about our parcels is that they are bespoke to each child, so if the recipient likes things that are pink and sparkly they’ve got it! This summer we enjoyed packing NASA backpacks, Marvel Super Hero swimming towels and yes, pink and sparkly wellies!
We’ve come a long way since we started back in 2018 when our pilot scheme supported just 2 local schools and delivered 9 parcels.
PWS now partners directly with 6 Southend schools and two family support centres covering the Southend and Rochford/Rayleigh areas and we are looking to expand further if funds allow.
Since 2018 we have delivered almost 1,800 parcels equating to almost 19,000 items!
